Heke Lager is better than ever; with help from the beer master from Urbanaut Brewery

Brewing in collaboration:

In the world of brewing, collaboration isn’t just about sharing learnings or techniques—it’s about a shared passion for crafting exceptional beers. Recently, Waiheke Brewing Co. had the privilege of hosting Brew Lord Bruce Turner from Urbanaut Brewery; we go a way back with Bruce, because he and his team brewed Heke Lager before we had our own brewery.

Bruce’s visit to Waiheke Island was a highlight because we set about brewing a fresh batch of our flagship Heke Lager together.

The brewing industry thrives on camaraderie and knowledge exchange, and having Bruce with us was an inspiring experience. It’s remarkable how even small adjustments can make a significant difference in the final product. This latest iteration of Heke Lager has surpassed our expectations, boasting a beautifully rounded profile complemented by a refreshing bite that aficionados and newcomers alike will appreciate.

Brewer Patrick Newton and founder Mark Hindmarsh couldn’t be more thrilled with the beer. The blend of expertise and creativity that Bruce brought to the table has undoubtedly elevated this batch to new heights.

It’s a testament to the spirit of collaboration and innovation that defines the craft brewing community.

If you’ve read all the way to here, by now you’re probably thirsty, and curious to taste the fruits of our labour, so come on in and try a pint of our finest Heke Lager yet.

Let’s raise a glass to shared passions and the art of brewing! Cheers!
