Accessibility & Inclusion at The Heke

The Heke is committed to being accessible and inclusive for all guests

In all our everyday actions, we strive to be leaders in manaakitanga / hospitality. This is in line with our values and we believe it is the only choice; to ensure everyone feels welcome and can access our facilities. We welcome all guests and assure you that you will receive a warm welcome here.

Please see this simple aerial view of The Heke.

Access to the Restaurant:

There is a driveway on the right hand side of the property that leads to our accessible parking bays, and the entrance to the restaurant is directly adjacent. Accessible bathrooms are about 20 meters from this entry. Please see the map below.

Access to the Distillery & Brewery

There is an angled ramp/path that accesses this building. There is a large accessible bathroom in this building too. Please see the map below.

Please note the ramp/path may not be suitable for some wheelchairs, as it has a compacted gravel finish. There is another entrance on one level with the distillery and brewery, with accessible parking, however in some periods this might need our help to confirm, as it is alongside our working brewery and there may be water/heat/noise in this area. We can let you know on the day. We suggest you first access the restaurant entrance and we can help direct you from there if necessary or give us a call before you come, details below.

Note that distillery and brewery tours may not be suitable for all abilities due to close working zones and height access - just ask us.

Emergency Procedures Map located here includes accessible entry and exit points.
